THIS IS A FABULOUS VINTAGE ENTOMOLOGICAL DISPLAY OF A FRAMED COLLECTION OF PRESERVED REAL BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS IN A SHADOW BOX COVERED WITH GLASS.
It looks like there are 28 butterflies and moths that are pinned to the backing that could be some sort of textured cotton.. Three of them have noticeable missing wings that have shifted or fallen off in the display. as I show. The box is wood with the glass on top. There is brown tape over the edges with some cracking or a little bit of missing tape. There is some residue or stains or dirt on the inside of the glass from the butterflies. I believe the taxidermy butterflies are from about 1969, since this was with an open box of the same butterflies that were pinned with dates of 1969. It is covered with glass and has no cracks or breaks. Sorry for the glass glare.
Measurements are about 16 3/4" by 12 1/2" by 1 1/2". It weighs about 4 pounds .
