A BORING BATHROOM & A FAVORITE DRESSER

One day while out shopping, I found the most awesome 1930’s dresser that had incredible details and the cutest curved sides and feet. It had the old original creamy white paint and I fell in love with it instantly and knew I had to keep it. Well, for months it sat in the living room, while I looked and looked for the perfect spot for it in my already full home. A girlfriend and I even moved several pieces of furniture in the living room to see if it would work in there. (My husband went upstairs to take a nap during this time, since he didn’t think we needed another dresser in the house with drawers for me to hide things in!) After moving this heavy dresser to a couple spots, we realized it wasn’t going to work.

Then while walking by my plain looking bathroom with the original cabinet, INSPIRATION hit and I quickly went to measure the dresser! It would work. So, I called our handyman, and the new project began.

We started by removing the old cabinet and tile floor. Of course, I didn’t sleep well the night the guy took the dresser home to cut the hole for the sink, and to resize the inside of the drawers to fit around the plumbing, but I didn’t need to worry. He did it perfect!

We decided to put a light Pergo wood floor in and beadboard part way up the walls all the way around. I painted the top of the walls a very soft pink and the beadboard and trim white. My favorite beaded chandelier and one of my favorite old oval mirrors were added. I always like to add architectural, so I put an old column with capital in the corner with the old chippy white paint. And a room isn’t complete without an old oil painting of roses, so I took an old painting of white roses that I had in another room, and sweetly persuaded my husband that I needed a ceiling tin frame for it right away!

I love the way this room turned out, simple but with an elegant feeling and all my favorite things!

Now I’m looking at another bathroom upstairs that needs a few changes. I have another dresser that I love and a great pair of sconces and chandelier for above a claw foot old fashioned bathtub. I guess we need to start by gutting that bathroom and getting started soon!
